I will be starting my fourth attempt at finishing this cricket bat. Yes that’s right, FOURTH!

Every time I’ve got close to completing the finishing I’ve had some tear out and been forced to go all the way back to the beginning. This time I got to the binding and then noticed it. At first I wanted to deny it was there,

“It’s just some figuring in the wood” I said to myself…

But alas, upon closer inspection it wasn’t.

To make matters worse, as I went to take a picture the bat started to slip through my hand. I quickly grabbed it, but in the process of doing so my thumb nail left a trailing scratch…

Back to the drawing board.
