Lots of questions surrounding James Taylor and his helmet. It’s been called everything from a ducks beak, to a backwards Team GB Cycling Helmet.

So what is it? It’s an Ayrtek helmet, a helmet designed using air pumps, carbon fibre and titanium to create the safest helmet the game has seen. The funny shape is because the helmet is designed to deflect blows to the peak and front of the helmet, reducing impact and therefore injury.

The Ayrtek lids are available from a number of retailers now, in various colours including this rather sexy ‘raw’ carbon fibre look.
