Must be hard to be a retailer and stick to limits/budgets when there is so much choice.

Do these retailers pay extra in order to handpick their bats?

How often do you think they go to a warehouse like this Tom? I am asking this as I don't know how big GSAM is; a store like Owzat cannot handpick their bats I guess as they stock thousands of them.

Hi all. I'm the chap in the video picking the bats. Just thought id answer a couple of your questions. It doesnt cost us anything to go and pick our bats we get invited by some of the manufacturers. Once weve seen the ranges we'll decide which models and price points to go for. Then once a year we'll go to pick the bats out, it may be a time consuming (but very fun) process, but it ensures that we know our customers are getting the best possible bats we can get our hands on. The only problem is knowing when to stop you never know if theres a better one in the next box!!!

Welcome to the forum Jonny  :)

I looked at your website but it seems some of the cricket stuff might need updating as regards to the stock?

So you do this once a year? What happens when the stock runs out? Or in other words, it is good to see that you handpick your bats but do you handpick every one of them?

Thanks in advance and sorry for greeting you with so many questions mate  :)

Thanks for the welcome chaps. The website does need some updating that should all be happening within the next week or so i hope!! however i always try and encourage people to come in or ring to see what we have in stock.
We do go only once a year, and we like to think we get our stock orders right so we dont have to get anymore. However if we do, we rely on the guys in the warehouse picking for us. We can request weights but thats about as far as it goes. Going to Gray Nicolls tomorrow so hopefuly will have some more footage.

And here's a selection of the bats they selected. The Blade 300 looks great for the money

Is it the pictures or the bats look quite dry. The last 3 blades look very nice specially the 500s.

It's definitely the pics I can assure you they're not too dry, however would need a coat of oil or teo as any bat would. I'm really pleased with our selection can't say theres a bad one amongst them. There are some great value for money bats there, as Tom said the blade 300's are really good. My personal faves are the recoil 250's which for £85 represent a great bat. I think it shows how worthwile these trips are for the retailer, we know we've got some of the best selection going!
